My name is Jaime Jamison and I am the new manager of the Senior Class Gift Program here at UW. I am seeking UW Seniors that are active, social, and interested in pursuing opportunities outside of the classroom to serve on the 2012 Senior Class Gift Council. The SCG Council, a diverse group of seniors from across campus, will help choose this year’s class gift and develop this year’s student fundraising campaign.
By participating on this leadership committee, students will have the opportunity to help determine priorities and fundraising strategies for the Senior Class Gift-staff from the Office of Annual Giving will assist and support them in their efforts and planning of events and solicitation methods.
The Senior Class Gift is a way for seniors to leave their mark at the University of Washington, since the funds that are raised will continue to have a positive impact on the quality of undergraduate student life at the UW. In recent years, senior classes have made gifts of Yoshino cherry trees, a Newton apple tree, endowed scholarships, an endowment for sustainability, and a Husky statue for the HUB. Last year’s seniors have chosen to create the Class of 2011 Endowment for Husky Promise with the intention of providing scholarships for academically qualified, talented students in Washington State for whom college seems a financial impossibility.
The students on the SCG Council will be responsible for attending meetings, events, and take part in the overall planning of this year’s campaign. The chair of the council will also present the gift to President Young at Commencement in June. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in a campus-wide leadership activity and to educate students in your school, college or department about philanthropy at the UW.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. If you have any students who you would like to nominate to the SCG Council please let me know at 206.616.0490 or jaimej3@u… I look forward to hearing from you. Go Huskies!
