Event: UC Berkeley hosts Information Design Case

Students at the Berkeley iSchool are planning an event for this fall and invite your participation.

Who: Current iSchool students. Teams will be composed of 3-4 people. We’d like to have ~15 teams total.

What: Information Design Case event. For a general idea of what a case competition is, see this wikipedia article. We envision this event as an opportunity to work on an information problem and to network with folks at other universities. The case will require teams to analyze data, synthesize information, and present recommendations to a panel of judges.

When: October 26-27, 2012.

Where: UC Berkeley School of Information, Berkeley, CA

Why: To get practice in problem solving with information and design. To strengthen your iSchool ties and professional network. Also, to have fun and meet new people!

FAQ/Logistics: We’re sending out a preliminary invite to gauge your interest. In all likelihood we will want to finalize registrations in early September. We hope to make the registration fee ~ $100 and get sponsorships to cover other event costs as well as prizes. NOTE: Each team will need to cover their own travel, lodging, and food costs (and check for support from their home university).

If you are interested in participating in this event, please fill in the form and we will get in touch with you soon.

Thank you,
