Free Workshop on Geoscience Librarianship to be held October 18, 2014
Come and join professional librarians, information specialists, and students in library and information science for “Geoscience Librarianship 101” — a free one day seminar, held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America (GSA) for the ninth consecutive year. The workshop sponsored by the Geoscience Information Society and Woodward Library at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014, from 10 am – 4:30 pm. Participation in this offsite event does not require registration for the GSA Annual Meeting and the event is free of charge.
The seminar provides an opportunity to network with geoscience professionals. Hot button topics on collection development, reference, instructional services, maps and geographical information systems (GIS) will be discussed by experienced geoscience librarians: Amanda Bielskas (Columbia University), Emily Wild (United States Geological Survey, Denver), Hannah Winkler (Stanford University) and Linda Zellmer (Western Illinois University).
Advance registration is required and space is limited. Registrations must be received by October 10, 2014.
