Welcome Back for Winter Quarter
Welcome back and happy New Year. With the new quarter comes another phase of recruiting. Countless companies are still searching for their next stellar employee, and that could be you.
On Jan. 31, over 40 organization spanning the fields of information management, information technology, and library science will be on campus for the iSchool Career Fair. You can follow that link for a list of all currently registered employers, along with the types of positions for which each is hoping to hire. Also, be on the lookout for upcoming ICF-specific workshops and newsletters that will help you maximize your experience.
The Career Services team has a range of Winter Quarter events planned beyond ICF, as well. Our workshops this quarter will cover areas such as professional development, career exploration, and networking, along with more niche topics, like job searching as an introvert and the basics of personal finance. You can find a full list of upcoming events here or on iCareers. Be sure to check out what the UW Career & Internship Center has planned too. They have a number of events focus on international and graduate students that may be of particular interest to the iSchool population.
Some of you may also still be figuring out what sort of career you’d like to pursue. This TechRepublic article on popular IT jobs for the coming year might be helpful in narrowing your focus. I’d also recommend Glassdoor’s list of the top places to work in 2017, as rated by employees themselves.
Career Services is here to answer any questions you might have as winter gets rolling. Schedule an advising appointment via iCareers, stop in for a drop-in (same hours as last quarter: Tue. – Thur., 2-4pm), or email us at email@example.com. We look forward to working with all of you this quarter.
(Please RSVP via iCareers for any iSchool events you plan to attend, unless otherwise noted.)
