This year, the iSchool’s Netherlands study abroad program will be held in collaboration with the UW Honors Program and will be a Summer A program, taking place from June 23-July 20, 2019. We’ll be staying once again for two weeks each in Amsterdam (The Netherlands’ political and cultural capital) and Delft (a charming small university city close to Rotterdam and Den Haag). The course focus will be on innovation, culture, and diversity in library, museum, and information-service settings and will feature numerous field visits to innovative Dutch libraries and museums as well as guest lectures from researchers and designers working in digital humanities, cultural heritage and preservation, public policy, and more! We have field trips planned or in planning currently to the Kroller-Muller Museum (a museum set in the heart of a national park, accessible mainly by bicycle), the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, Data Archiving and Networked Services in The Hague, the International Institute for Social Research in Amsterdam and many more in the works. The program will be worth 6 credits for graduate students and 10 for undergraduates. The program fees this year will be $4,450, which includes the study abroad fee – a real bargain!
