Funding: iSchool Scholarship Applications for Academic Year 2019-2020
Deadline: February 19, 5PM PST
The Information School offers scholarships for continuing MLIS and MSIM students to help defray the cost of tuition for the 2019-20 academic year. (Please Note: these funds are not available for the current year. Students graduating in winter, spring or summer quarter are not eligible to apply for these funds.)
These scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic merit, demographic information, professional goals as well as involvement and leadership in the iSchool and professional community. To be considered for one of these scholarships, you must submit an application. There are the scholarship options for MLIS students:
- MLIS Scholarships (MLIS only): catalyst.uw.edu/webq/survey/ioss/56555
- Horowitz Fellowship (MLIS and MSIM): catalyst.uw.edu/webq/survey/ioss/191856 (students working in the area of information technology and social justice)
- Larsen Fellowship (MLIS & MSIM): catalyst.uw.edu/webq/survey/ioss/104479 (students with an interest in innovation and information management)
Scholarships awarded based on financial need require that students complete the FAFSA. Additional information can be found on the UW Financial Aid website at www.washington.edu/students/osfa/. The Larsen and Horowitz Fellowships are need based.
DACA/International Students: if you have a social security number (SSN), you can complete the FAFSA. You will not be considered for federal financial aid. When you complete the FAFSA form you will receive a message indicating that you aren’t eligible for financial aid or that your FAFSA application wasn’t accepted. Ignore that message. You are eligible for scholarships, which is how the FAFSA information will be used.
Students who DO NOT have an SSN, can submit an alternative financial form that will be available at the Student Services reception desk (we hope to have them next week). The completed form must be returned to MGH 420 by February 19 at 5 pm.
Please Note: you DO NOT need to complete the FAFSA to be considered for an MLIS scholarship. You DO need to complete the FAFSA or the alternative financial form to be considered for the Horowitz or Larsen Scholarship. (Additional details are found with the scholarship links above.)
Application Deadline for all scholarships Tuesday, Feb 19, at 5 pm. (Late applications WILL NOT be accepted)
Scholarships will be awarded in spring quarter to be used for the next academic year starting in September.
