Winter Quarter GO-MAP Event Schedule
Winter Quarter is well under way and the Graduate Opportunities & Minority Achievement Program (GO-MAP) will be hosting a variety of events in the upcoming weeks for graduate students of color.
Within the next week, GO-MAP will be hosting a Real Talk Tuesday and their first Community Social of the quarter. Real Talk Tuesday’s provides a space for graduate students to relax, kick back, and talk about real issues in partnership with the Center for Communication, Difference, and Equity (CCDE). Community Socials provide students an opportunity to engage with fellow graduate students of color and build support networks among affinity groups. The first Community Social will take place on February 6 in Kane 225 and the next Real Talk Tuesday will take place on February 12 in CMU 129.
Real Talk Tuesdays
GO-MAP and the Center for Communication, Difference, and Equity (CCDE) join together to organize Real Talk Tuesdays — a safe space to engage in real talk about issues that impact graduate students of color. Topics rotate every discussion and students are welcome to bring the issues they face as POC graduate students. RTT are hosted on Tuesdays in CMU 129 from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
For faculty and graduate students of color looking to build community in a safe space, GO-MAP has launched various Community Socials to deepen engagement with fellow graduate students and faculty, help build support networks, and unite affinity groups at the graduate level. Faculty and graduate students of color are invited to join GO-MAP in meeting and connecting with others that identify with their racial/ethnic background(s).
