Events: Memorial Day is…
May 20 through 27, 2019
UW Campuses
Memorial Day is a sacred day in the military community. It is a day in which we celebrate our fallen service members, one where we honor their lives and sacrifices, and the day that we mourn their loss together with our surrounding community.
Memorial Day is… is a week of events aimed at raising awareness of the true meaning of Memorial Day and a way for the military community to welcome in our friends and family to mourn the loss of our military service members who made the ultimate sacrifice. The 2019 Memorial Day is… program will focus on servicewomen who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Whether you are a veteran yourself or someone in your family served, most people have a connection to someone who was killed in action while serving their country or a veteran who died by suicide.
This year between May 20th and 27th, sign the Memorial Day is… banner with the name of a fallen service member, a veteran who you were connected to, or just sign the banner with what Memorial Day means to you. The banner will be out on the HUB Lawn where there will be flags laid, each representing servicewomen who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
