USE-THIS-HEADER-3

The Office of the University Registrar, in partnership with UW Information Technology, is happy to announce the upcoming release of a more robust Find Courses feature in MyPlan. You can now preview the Find Courses feature at this link: https://uwkstrn02.s.uw.edu/course/

Once you’ve viewed the redesigned Find Courses feature, please fill out the brief Find Courses evaluation survey found here: https://goo.gl/forms/sf7xz0S2fOYxzHwG3.

If you would like more information on how to use the Find Courses feature, review our Quick Guide here: http://helpcenter.uw.edu/find-courses/

Below is an overview of the changes you will encounter when previewing the MyPlan Find Courses feature:

---

Mobile Friendly Design:

A cleaner, responsive design allows students to search for courses easily from any device they choose.

Pre-Search Filters:

Students can search the Time Schedule and specify which quarter they want to search, or conduct a broader search of the Course Catalog. Students can also easily filter out PCE sections by selecting the “Non-PCE sections” filter.

---

Text Search:

Students can search by GenEd requirement, course prefix, course title, and course description all in one place. GenEd requirements display first in the pre-search auto suggest drop-down. This allows students to combine GenEd and text searches for more relevant results.

---

Detailed Search Results:

Search results display current and future quarter course listings on separate lines. An icon also displays which notifies students of the course status as expiring or upcoming. Search results can be sorted by Relevance, Course Code, or Course Title.

If a course offers PCE and Non-PCE sections, these will also display on separate lines.

---

Post-Search Filters:

Students can filter their search further by applying post-search filters, which include gen ed req, course levels, and credit types. Students are even able to filter results by combinations of GenEd requirements.

---

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to improve students’ MyPlan experience.

Service Learning: Tutoring and Mentorship Opportunity

Gain Experience and Make a Difference

The University of Washington Academic Support Program is offering a service-learning seminar titled “EDUC 401: Tutoring and Mentorship in Higher Education” for Spring Quarter 2012. This weekly seminar will introduce junior and senior students to a diverse range of tutoring, mentoring, and teaching methodologies. Students will have an opportunity to apply what they learn in class through tutoring and mentoring new transfer, freshman, and sophomore students who are transitioning socially, culturally, and academically to the University of Washington. This is a great opportunity for seasoned students to give back to the University by sharing their knowledge and experience with new students who are working to become independent learners.
