Abstract: Opinions about user interfaces are never in short supply. User Experience professionals are increasingly bringing rigor to the validation of product function. But what about form? Customers love products because they perform useful functions and they’re easy to use. But even before they know if they’ll love them, they buy products because they look beautiful and easy to use. Curb appeal is so important. I’ll walk through a recent project in which we tested several aesthetic designs with potential customers. It turns out that functionality is important to physicians when choosing an electronic medical record. But, they’re also pretty passionate about the way the product looks.
